About this position

The Thomas Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic team working at the intersection of drug delivery, nanotechnology, biomaterials science, and bioengineering. The research focuses on developing novel drug delivery systems, particularly a thermosensitive co-polymer hydrogel, to achieve targeted and sustained delivery of therapeutics into the lymphatic system. This translational project aims to address the challenges of accessing the lymphatic system for therapeutic benefit, with applications across a variety of diseases.

The successful candidate will lead in vivo validation studies, perform extensive biodistribution and imaging analyses, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team spanning engineering, chemistry, and drug delivery. Responsibilities also include grant and project reporting, manuscript writing, and presenting findings at conferences. The lab values collaboration and mentorship, welcoming researchers interested in guiding junior trainees.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioscience, or a related field, with strong experience in in vivo therapeutic testing, biodistribution, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with non-invasive animal imaging, experience with polymeric nanoformulations or drug delivering hydrogels, and in vitro analysis of formulation effects in bioassays. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential.

The position is available immediately, offering a competitive salary and benefits, with an initial appointment of up to three years. The Thomas Lab is part of the Georgia Institute of Technology, a leading institution in bioengineering and nanotechnology research. This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about translational research in drug delivery and biomaterials.

To apply, send your CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for 2-3 references to Dr. Susan N. Thomas at [email protected].
