Postdoctoral Position in Interbrain Synchrony, Psychedelic-Assisted and Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy University of California San Diego in United States

A postdoctoral position is available at the University of California San Diego for the new ARPA-H Maximizing Outcomes in Neuroplastogen Assisted Psychotherapy (MAPneuro) program.

The project aims to develop and validate multimodal, computational measures of interbrain synchrony between therapists and patients undergoing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and to connect these measures with therapeutic processes and clinical outcomes.

The postdoc will help lead MAPneuro studies by designing and implementing research protocols, coordinating data collection from therapist-patient dyads, and overseeing multimodal sensing during psychotherapy sessions.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, biomedical engineering, data science, psychiatry, or a related field by the start date. Strong quantitative skills are essential, especially experience with neurophysiology (EEG/ECG), time-series analysis, multivariate modeling, and programming in R, Python, or MATLAB.

Highly desirable experience includes EEG hyperscanning, psychotherapy process research, dyadic or interpersonal physiology, multimodal sensing (video/audio), clinical trials, and neuroscience research on psychedelic-assisted or mindfulness-based interventions. Familiarity with regulated clinical research environments and evidence of first-author publication productivity are also expected.

The appointment is expected to last at least two years, pending program milestones and deliverables. Salary follows UC San Diego postdoctoral scales and is commensurate with experience, with full UC benefits.
