About this position
Postdoctoral position in polymer/polysaccharide chemistry at CERMAV-CNRS (Centre de Recherche sur les Macromolécules Végétales), Grenoble, France, in collaboration with Université Grenoble Alpes.
The project sits at the interface of chemistry, biochemistry, and biomaterials science, focusing on an original bacterial polysaccharide and its controlled chemical and enzymatic modification. The successful candidate will develop innovative chemo-enzymatic strategies to tailor polymer structure and study how these modifications affect temperature-dependent conformational behavior, gelation, viscosity, and structural stability.
Research activities include controlled chemical and enzymatic modification of polysaccharides, structural and physicochemical characterization of polymers in solution, and scientific writing. The work is embedded in a multidisciplinary environment with expertise in carbohydrate chemistry, macromolecular characterization, microscopy, scattering, chromatography, and rheology.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in polymer chemistry required; strong knowledge of polymer characterization methods such as SEC, DSC, and NMR is expected. Experience with polysaccharide chemistry and/or biomolecules is considered an asset. The postdoc should be comfortable working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and should be prepared to supervise Master's interns.
Funding: funded by CNRS Chimie; salary from 3071€ gross per month depending on experience; duration 14 months.
Application: send a CV, motivation letter, and recommendation letters to Prof. Rachel Auzély by email. The post starts on September 1, 2026.
