About this position

The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) in Castelldefels, Barcelona, Spain, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Quantum Information Theory Group, led by Prof. Dr. Antonio Acin. This position focuses on the performance of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols over existing networks, leveraging techniques from complex-network theory. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and internationally recognized research group at the forefront of quantum information science.

The Quantum Information Theory Group at ICFO is renowned for its contributions to quantum communication, cryptography, and the theoretical foundations of quantum information. The group offers a stimulating and collaborative environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant international community of researchers.

The postdoctoral researcher will work on developing and analyzing QKD protocols in complex network settings, aiming to advance the security and efficiency of quantum communication systems. The project requires a strong background in quantum information theory, complex networks, and related mathematical and computational methods.

Eligibility and Requirements: Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a PhD or equivalent degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. Prior experience in quantum information protocols and complex networks is essential. Excellent command of English is required.

Funding and Benefits: The position is fully funded, with salaries determined by the ICFO Selection Committee based on experience and responsibilities. The contract is for up to 1.5 years, with the possibility of a family allowance for eligible candidates. ICFO is an equal opportunity employer, committed to openness, transparency, and international comparability.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit a presentation letter with a declaration of interest, a detailed CV including contact information, and the contact emails of two potential referees via the ICFO job portal. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. For formal enquiries, contact [email protected]; for scientific questions, contact Prof. Dr. Antonio Acin at [email protected].
