About this position
The Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPG PAS) in Poznan, Poland, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions within the OPUS project funded by the National Science Centre (NCN). These full-time, temporary positions (up to 2 years) offer an exciting opportunity to join an interdisciplinary research team focused on plant-nanoparticle interactions, plant tissue culture, and phytochemistry.
Position 1 centers on phytochemistry, requiring a PhD in plant sciences, chemistry, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in targeted and/or untargeted metabolomic analyses. The successful candidate will analyze plant secondary metabolites using advanced analytical techniques such as UPLC and LC–MS, process and interpret metabolomic data, and prepare high-quality scientific manuscripts. Experience with plant secondary metabolites is a strong asset.
Position 2 focuses on plant–nanoparticle interactions, seeking candidates with a PhD in plant sciences, nanotechnology, or a related discipline. Applicants should have proven experience in the application of nanomaterials in plant research and skills in nanoparticle characterization using techniques like ICP–MS and TXRF. Main duties include investigating nanoparticle-induced physiological, biochemical, and molecular responses in plant systems, and analyzing nanoparticle and metal ion uptake in plant cells and seedlings.
Both positions require at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed, high-impact international journal, strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and excellent written and spoken English. The positions offer a competitive salary of 12,000 PLN per month gross, an attractive pension scheme, health insurance, 36 working days of holidays per year, and generous financial support for participation in national and international conferences. The working environment at IPG PAS provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, international collaborations, and excellent career development opportunities.
Applicants should submit a single PDF containing a CV, list of top publications, a relevant article reprint, a motivation letter, contact information for three referees, a scan of their degree or diploma, and a consent statement for data processing. Applications should be sent to [email protected], with the area of expertise clearly indicated in the subject line. The first screening of applications will take place on January 15, 2026, and the selection process will continue until suitable candidates are identified.
