About this position
UM6P’s African Genome Center (AGC) in Benguerir, Morocco is recruiting postdoctoral researchers for interdisciplinary work at the intersection of agroecosystems, microbial genomics, bioinformatics, soil science, environmental science, and sustainable agriculture.
Position 1: Trace Elements and Agroecosystems focuses on the sources, mobility, and bioavailability of cadmium, chromium, and arsenic in agricultural soils; plant growth and nutrient uptake; soil health indicators; plant–microbe interactions; and bioremediation/nature-based solutions for contaminated agroecosystems. The work combines field investigations, controlled experiments, soil chemistry, microbial ecology, molecular tools, and functional assays.
Position 2: Bioinformatics/Microbial Genomics is based in the research group led by Professor Vittorio Venturi and centers on genomics and metagenomics of plant-associated bacterial communities, microbial signaling systems, beneficial bacteria, and genomic features relevant to sustainable agricultural applications.
Applicants should hold a PhD in soil science, environmental sciences, microbiology, agronomy, plant sciences, microbiology, molecular biology, microbial genomics, bioinformatics, or a related field. Strong experience in trace element dynamics, soil–plant interactions, environmental biogeochemistry, bacteriology, molecular biology, data analysis, and scientific writing is preferred. For the bioinformatics postdoc, documented expertise in bioinformatics, soil and rhizosphere microbial genomics, and a strong publication record are emphasized, along with excellent English communication skills.
The closing date shown in the job listings is 22 July 2026. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, and three references via the application portal/SuccessFactor link. A contact email is provided for Professor Vittorio Venturi for further information.
This is a postdoctoral recruitment at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University through the African Genome Center, with a strong research environment in genomics, systems biology, microbial ecology, biotechnology, and translational research for agriculture and the environment.
