About this position

The University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the SEDAN group for a project focused on AI-guided attack surface assessment. The SnT is a leading European research center specializing in secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT systems, with strong industry partnerships and a vibrant international community. This postdoc position offers the opportunity to work on a collaborative project with a major cybersecurity industry partner, aiming to automate and enhance the assessment of organizational attack surfaces.

The project leverages advanced AI techniques, including deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to orchestrate multiple attack surface management tools, large language models (LLMs) to refine tool configurations, and graph-based machine learning for anomaly detection and actionable recommendations. The successful candidate will design and develop an orchestrator that integrates open-source EASM tools, defines unified interfaces and languages, and iteratively interprets results using LLMs.

The research is highly applied, with direct feedback from cybersecurity practitioners, and will contribute to the development of new concepts in attack surface management. The candidate will also participate in project management, reporting, and dissemination, and have the opportunity to propose and lead additional projects within the group.

The ideal applicant will have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Telecommunication Engineering, with expertise in machine learning, statistics, cybersecurity, programming, and Linux environments. Experience in pentesting, LLMs, reinforcement learning, and network protocols is a plus. English fluency is required, and applicants must be from NATO member or partner countries.

The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 24 months, with a competitive annual gross salary of EUR 85,176. The University of Luxembourg offers a modern, international environment with excellent infrastructure and strong ties to industry and European institutions. Applications should be submitted online, and early application is encouraged.

The university is committed to gender parity, inclusion, and diversity.
