Postdoctoral Research Associate opportunity in medicinal chemistry at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (Liverpool, UK).

This 3-year fixed-term role sits in the Burrows Laboratory and focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and drug discovery for neglected tropical infectious diseases, including malaria and tuberculosis. The project also involves AI medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, hit identification, docking, co-folding technology, and collaboration with the Chemistry Department of the University of Liverpool.

The successful candidate will design and synthesise target molecules, purify and characterise compounds, maintain rigorous lab records, analyse data, prepare reports and manuscripts, and support funding applications. The role also includes laboratory supervision, mentoring junior researchers, and working with academic and industry partners.

Eligibility highlights: PhD/DPhil or equivalent in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related discipline; strong multi-step synthesis experience; excellent publication record; and the ability to lead research projects and solve complex scientific problems.

Funding and terms: Salary is £39,906-£42,254 per annum, with 30 days annual leave, bank holidays, Christmas closure days, pension benefits, and other staff perks.
