About this position

The Asia Research Institute (ARI) at the National University of Singapore is recruiting for several research positions within the interdisciplinary project 'Heritage Diplomacy: Connecting Histories and Futures.' The project is directed by Professor Tim Winter (PI) and Associate Professors Sher Banu, Maitrii Aung-Thwin, and Hamzah Muzaini (Co-PIs). The research focuses on heritage diplomacy, history, museum studies, material culture studies, digital humanities, cultural geography, sociology, and international relations, with a regional emphasis on Southeast and East Asia.

Open positions include Research Associate, Research Fellow, and Senior Research Fellow. Ideal candidates for Research Associate and Research Fellow roles should hold a PhD in relevant fields and be keen to work across disciplines. Senior Research Fellow applicants must have a first-class degree (or equivalent), a PhD, a strong publication record, and experience in team and grant leadership. All positions are based in Singapore, with expectations of regional travel for some roles.

Applicants will join a vibrant research environment at ARI, collaborating with leading scholars and engaging in projects that connect historical and future perspectives on heritage and diplomacy. The institute encourages applications from candidates with expertise in history, heritage and museum studies, material culture, digital humanities, cultural geography, sociology, and international relations. The application period for these positions runs from 17 December 2025 to 1 February 2026.

For more information and to apply, visit ARI Opportunities. Prepare your CV and supporting documents for submission via the online portal. Funding details are not specified, but positions are standard research staff roles at NUS.
