About this position

The University of Warwick is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Pain Research, focusing on adenosine A1 receptor pharmacology and neurophysiology. The research aims to explore selective activation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), particularly the adenosine A1 receptor, and its implications for analgesia without cardiorespiratory depression. The project builds on recent findings regarding the A1R-selective agonist BnOCPA, which demonstrates potent analgesic effects without the typical side effects associated with conventional agonists.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team investigating molecular modelling, receptor pharmacology, and neurophysiology, with a strong emphasis on translational pain research. The position is based in Coventry, United Kingdom, at the University of Warwick, and is available until 30th June 2028 in the first instance. The research group collaborates with international partners and is at the forefront of developing novel therapeutics based on selective Gα agonism.

Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, biology, or a closely related field. Experience in pain research, neurophysiology, or receptor pharmacology is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to have strong research skills, a publication record in relevant areas, and excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
