Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Plant Biotechnology – RE-IMAGINE-CROPS-HOP Project NOVA University of Lisbon in Portugal

The Faculty of Sciences and Technology at NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA FCT) announces a call for applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship within the RE-IMAGINE-CROPS-HOP Project, funded by the European Union. This opportunity is designed for researchers with a strong background in plant biology and biotechnology, particularly those with expertise in metabolomics and transcriptomics analysis techniques applied to plants. The fellowship is based in the Department of Chemistry at NOVA FCT, located in Caparica, Portugal, and will be supervised by Professor Filipe Natálio.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment focused on advancing crop science through innovative biotechnological approaches. The project emphasizes experimental studies, with a preferred (but not mandatory) focus on wheat. Applicants must have obtained their PhD in Plant Biology or a closely related field within the last three years, and the degree must be from an institution other than NOVA University of Lisbon. For degrees earned abroad, official recognition in Portugal is required, with supporting documents to be submitted by the contracting phase. Candidates should demonstrate substantial laboratory experience, autonomy, teamwork skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential.

The fellowship offers a monthly maintenance allowance of €1,851.00, paid via bank transfer, for an initial period of 24 months, renewable up to a maximum of 36 months in accordance with NOVA Research Fellowship regulations and project duration. The position is full-time and temporary, providing an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to further develop their expertise in plant biotechnology within a leading European research institution.
