Ghent University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position focused on the modelling of composite tanks for hydrogen storage, within the Department of Materials, Textiles and Chemical Process Engineering (EA11), Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Applicants must hold a thesis-based doctorate in Engineering Sciences, with specialization in Material Science, Civil Engineering, (Applied) Mechanics, Computational Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in material modelling, particularly in the mechanical behaviour of materials, and proficiency in developing and implementing material models using analytical methods or finite element codes. A strong record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and organizational skills are essential.

The position offers a competitive remuneration according to Ghent University's salary scale PD1 to PD4 for doctoral degree holders, along with comprehensive staff benefits such as training opportunities, 36 days of annual holiday leave, fixed bridge days, bicycle allowance, and eco vouchers. The contract is set to begin on 15 March 2026 at the earliest.
