About this position

The Centre of Behavioral Economics and Engineering (BEE) at KU Leuven is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join its interdisciplinary team focused on understanding and influencing human decision-making in economic contexts. BEE’s research is driven by the recognition that individuals often make suboptimal decisions in complex environments, and the center aims to both understand these behaviors and design interventions that promote better outcomes for individuals and society. The postdoctoral researcher will work within the framework of ongoing international projects funded by the European Union, supporting the Principal Investigator and contributing to BEE’s strategic vision. Key responsibilities include conducting field studies in collaboration with external partners such as retailers and NGOs, organizing and overseeing qualitative research activities like co-creation sessions with diverse stakeholders, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, promoting open science, mentoring junior researchers, and participating in collaborative initiatives within BEE.

The role also involves contributing to new research proposals and a limited set of educational tasks, such as thesis supervision and teaching. Regular on-site presence (minimum three days per week) and participation in international meetings (primarily within Europe) are required. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant discipline (Psychological Science, Behavioral Economics, Business Economics, Social Science, or equivalent), strong methodological and theoretical interests aligned with BEE’s mission, fluency in English, willingness to co-supervise projects, and a record of international publications.

Experience with EU projects, collaboration with non-academic partners, and mentoring are desirable. The position offers a full-time, two-year contract starting January 15, 2026, with remuneration according to KU Leuven’s post-doc salary scales and seniority.

KU Leuven is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, and provides support for accessibility and a respectful work environment. Interested candidates should apply online by November 15, 2025, submitting a CV and motivation letter. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their research and vision for the role.
