About this position
The Department of Physics at Lund University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Aerosol Science to join the Division of Combustion Physics and the Aerosol Research Group. The successful candidate will analyze long-term aerosol datasets to investigate how land use and ecosystems influence aerosol properties and their effects on climate. The research is closely linked to the strategic research area MERGE and the Horizon Europe project CLIMB-FOREST, and involves collaboration with ACTRIS and ICOS infrastructures at the Hyltemossa and Norunda field sites.
Key research areas include the analysis of long-term aerosol measurements, linking aerosol properties to land use, ecosystems, and meteorology, source attribution using air mass trajectories, receptor models, and machine learning tools, and the evaluation of aerosol and Earth system models. The postdoc will work with data on volatile organic compounds, aerosol concentrations, chemistry, biological particles, cloud and ice nuclei, and black carbon, and will assess the sensitivity of modelled aerosol properties to land-use changes.
The position offers a supportive and international research environment at the Enoch Thulin Laboratory, with around 70 colleagues and an active well-being group. The postdoc will be expected to conduct research, attend project meetings, present at conferences, and write scientific publications. Teaching may be included up to 20% of working hours, and there is an opportunity for training in higher education teaching and learning.
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field, strong English proficiency, comprehensive knowledge of aerosols, experience with large datasets, and programming skills. The position is fully funded for two years, with a monthly salary and benefits as a public authority employee. Applications should be submitted in English via the Lund University recruitment system, including a CV, personal letter, degree certificate, transcripts, and references. The deadline for applications is 8 May 2026.
