Postdoctoral Researcher in AGI, Reasoning, World Modeling, and Neuro-Symbolic Learning at KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea

KAIST’s Machine Learning and Mind Lab (MLML), led by Associate Professor Sungjin Ahn, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for work on fundamental challenges toward AGI.

The research themes include reasoning, abstraction, world modeling, world model learning and planning, compositional generalization, neuro-symbolic world learning, and causal discovery. The lab also highlights related directions such as next-generation foundation architectures, embodied physical AI, robot learning, agent AI, and scientist AI.

The position is based at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea and is supported by the InnoCORE Fellowship Program 2026 / InnoCORE National Program. The post states a competitive salary of KRW 90M+ per year (approximately USD 60K+) and a renewable yearly contract.

There is also a possibility of co-advising with Yoshua Bengio (Mila) and/or Mengye Ren (NYU), which may be attractive for candidates interested in collaborative AI research across leading labs.
