About this position

The Department of Mathematics at Radboud University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join its Algebraic Topology group. This position is part of the project ‘Symmetry on the interface of topology and higher algebra’, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Magdalena Kedziorek and Dr. Steffen Sagave on research in homotopy theory, with a focus on topics such as equivariant homotopy theory, algebraic K-theory, topological Hochschild homology, and infinity categories.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to the vibrant research environment of the Algebraic Topology group, participate in conferences, workshops, and seminars, and publish your findings in peer-reviewed journals. You will also mentor PhD candidates and interact with undergraduate students. While there is no formal teaching load, participation in teaching activities is encouraged for up to 10% of your working time.

The Mathematics Department at Radboud University is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with researchers in related areas including algebraic and arithmetic geometry, differential geometry, operator algebras, and representation theory. The department fosters a supportive environment, especially for members from groups underrepresented in mathematics, and maintains a strong network of Dutch algebraic topologists who regularly collaborate and meet for seminars and events.

Employment is offered for two years, with the possibility of extension for another year. The gross monthly salary ranges from €3,546 to €5,538, depending on experience, and includes an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Additional benefits include extra days off, flexible working hours, reimbursement for sports membership, a 34% discount on sports and cultural activities, a pension plan, and access to training and development schemes. Full-time employees can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave.

Applicants must hold a PhD in mathematics and demonstrate interest and experience in at least one of the specified research topics. A good command of English is required. The Faculty of Science at Radboud University is internationally oriented, with staff from over 70 countries, and is committed to personal and professional development for all employees.

To apply, submit your application online via the provided link, addressing your cover letter to Dr. Magdalena Kedziorek and Dr. Steffen Sagave. The application deadline is 15 March 2026. Interviews will take place during the week of 23 March, with second interviews in the week of 6 April. The preferred start date is 1 September 2026.

Radboud University values inclusivity and diversity and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply. For further information, contact Dr. Magdalena Kedziorek at [email protected].
