About this position
The Centre of Behavioral Economics and Engineering (BEE) at KU Leuven is seeking a postdoctoral researcher (BEE2) to join its interdisciplinary team investigating human decision-making and behavior in economic contexts. The BEE Research Center is dedicated to understanding how individuals make decisions in complex environments and designing interventions to promote better outcomes for both individuals and society. The center emphasizes open, high-quality research and collaborates closely with societal stakeholders. The postdoctoral researcher will support the Principal Investigator, Prof.
Siegfried Dewitte, in advancing BEE’s mission through research within ongoing international projects funded by the European Union. The position specifically targets candidates with proven experience in studying determinants of pro-environmental or sustainable behavior, ideally using experimental or field-experimental methodologies. Responsibilities include upholding high scientific standards, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, promoting open science, mentoring junior researchers, participating in collaborative initiatives, contributing to new research proposals, and engaging in limited educational tasks such as thesis supervision and teaching.
The role requires regular on-site presence (minimum three days per week) and participation in international meetings within Europe several times a year. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., Psychological Science, Behavioral Economics, Business Economics, Social Science), strong methodological and theoretical interests in sustainability or pro-environmental behavior, fluency in English, willingness to co-supervise projects, and a record of international publications. Experience with EU projects, collaboration with non-academic partners, and mentoring are assets.
The position offers a full-time, two-year contract starting January 15, 2026, with remuneration according to KU Leuven’s post-doc salary scales and seniority. KU Leuven is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Applications must be submitted online by November 15, 2025, including a CV and motivation letter.
Selected candidates will be invited to present their research and vision for the role.
