About this position

Open postdoctoral position in Cognitive Science at Lund University, within the Lund University Cognitive Science (LUCS) unit and the Agentic AI Research Group.

The project, Dynamic Cooperation with Emotionally Capable LLMs, focuses on human-AI collaboration, decision-making, social cognition, and affective science. The research asks how emotionally capable large language models can support better collaborative outcomes and improve the quality of individual human decisions through dynamic emotional alignment and bidirectional emotional signalling.

The post is funded by WASP-HS (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program – Humanity and Society), a Swedish national research program supporting interdisciplinary work on AI and its societal impact. The role is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 36 months.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Affective Neuroscience, Human-Computer Interaction, or a closely related field. Strong research ability, English proficiency, teaching skills, and Python programming skills are required. The post especially suits candidates with interest or experience in emotionally capable LLMs, affective-computing frameworks, multi-agent systems, prompting, fine-tuning, and experimental research on human interaction with AI.

The application deadline is 24 June 2026. Applicants must submit an English application including a research plan, CV, doctoral degree certificate, publication list, and up to five publications.
