A postdoctoral researcher position is available at the Instituto Botánico de Barcelona (IBB–CSIC), located in Barcelona, Spain, in collaboration with research groups led by Dr. Josefa González (CSIC) and Dr. Aurora Ruiz‑Herrera (UAB). The project focuses on developing and improving computational tools and platforms for integrative genomic data analysis, with the aim of advancing our understanding of genome function, organization, and evolution.

Key research areas include the creation of novel algorithms for multi‑omic data integration, scalable and user‑friendly computational platforms, and tools for the analysis, integration, and storage of genomic, epigenomic, structural, and functional data from both model and non‑model species. The position sits at the intersection of computational biology, artificial intelligence, high‑performance computing, climate change, and biodiversity, with real-world applications in agriculture, livestock, and aquaculture.

The scientific and technological scope covers data analysis, big data technologies, bioinformatics, high‑performance and cloud computing, AI and machine learning, climate change, biodiversity genomics, and digital tools for bio‑based sectors. Applicants should have a PhD in Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields, and be proficient in English. Additional merits include experience with UNIX/Linux, programming (R, Python, Perl), machine learning, NGS data analysis, NCBI databases, data visualization, and graphical interface development.

The position offers a contract under the Spanish Science Law, a competitive salary (41,000 € – 52,000 € gross/year), a comprehensive training program (240 ECTS), and an excellent scientific environment.
