The role is highly interdisciplinary, combining environmental science, earth science, biology, and physics.
Applicants must hold a thesis-based doctorate (PhD) in (Bio-) Science/Engineering, Physics, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field, obtained before the contract start date. Essential qualifications include a strong background in dendrochronology, paleoclimatology, X-ray CT scanning, excellent analytical skills, fluency in English, good communication skills, hands-on lab experience, and ICT/programming skills (Python/R). Candidates should demonstrate an open mind and a multi-disciplinary attitude.
Ghent University offers a competitive remuneration according to salary scale PD1 to PD4 (doctorate required), a 70% contract for 18 months, and a range of staff benefits including training and education opportunities, 36 days of holiday leave (full-time equivalent), annual fixed bridge days, bicycle allowance, and eco vouchers.
