About this position
Jagiellonian University in Kraków is recruiting a full-time Assistant Professor / Postdoctoral Researcher for the ERC-funded ROBOCRIM project, Philosophical Foundations of Criminal Law in the Age of Robots.
The role sits in the Faculty of Law and Administration, Department of Criminal Law, and focuses on the empirical component of the project, especially experimental philosophy and experimental jurisprudence. The successful candidate will help design, conduct, and analyse empirical studies (including the vignette method), test models of criminal law institutions, examine how people perceive legal responses to robot-related harms, and integrate findings with the project’s theoretical work.
This opportunity is especially relevant for researchers in law, philosophy, psychology, criminal law, technology ethics, AI, and legal liability. The post is open to candidates with a PhD in philosophy, law, psychology, or a related discipline, plus documented experience in experimental philosophy/jurisprudence, publications in strong academic journals, very good English, and experience in scientific or project work.
The appointment is a 36-month employment contract with a gross monthly salary of PLN 15,210–18,560 (approximately EUR 3,585–4,375). The start date is 1 September 2026.
