Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto

The Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP) is opening an international selection process for an initial-level postdoctoral researcher to join the #CODEclinic project. The project focuses on improving the quality of health data and best practices in clinical coding, with a strong emphasis on health services research, clinical coding, hospital documentation, qualitative methods, and health data quality.

Research focus: This role is well suited to candidates interested in health systems, clinical documentation workflows, qualitative inquiry, and the use of health data for quality improvement. The post highlights work involving semi-structured interviews, thematic analysis, and broader scientific writing in the health field.

Eligibility highlights: Applicants must hold a PhD awarded no more than 5 years ago in Health Services Research, Psychology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Economics, or a related area. Postgraduate training and/or demonstrated experience in qualitative studies is required, along with experience in writing scientific articles. The post particularly values experience with qualitative methods, thematic analysis, clinical coding life cycles, hospital documentation, and participation in funded health research projects. Excellent spoken and written English is also valued.
