About this position
The University of Luxembourg, a leading international research university, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in High-Performance Computing (HPC) to join its Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). The FSTM is renowned for its multidisciplinary expertise spanning Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, and Medicine, and is committed to advancing society through teaching and research.
This postdoctoral position is embedded within the EuroCC3 project team, which drives National Competence Centre activities in Luxembourg to facilitate HPC uptake. The role involves creating and delivering HPC training modules tailored for industrial partners and public administrations, providing high-level support to internal and external stakeholders, and coordinating meetings with NCC members to ensure project synergy and progress. The researcher will liaise with various university departments and maintain active collaborations with external European projects and the wider NCC network.
Key responsibilities include supervising Bachelor, Master, and PhD students involved in related activities, writing funding demands and scientific articles, and participating in research, education, and training activities across faculties. The position offers opportunities to engage with national and European initiatives, such as the AI Factory, and to ensure strategic alignment with NCC partners like LuxProvide and Luxinnovation.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on HPC. Expertise in molecular simulation and density functional theory (DFT) is highly valued, especially for ongoing research in hydrogen production, separation, and catalysis. Experience in a research environment is required, and industry experience is considered an asset. Strong project management skills and fluency in English are mandatory.
The University of Luxembourg offers a modern, dynamic, and inclusive research environment, with staff from over 90 countries and strong links to professional sectors and the Luxembourg labour market. The position is based at the Belval Campus and is a fixed-term contract for 24 months, full-time (40 hours per week). The yearly gross salary is EUR 85,176.
To apply, candidates should submit a CV, cover letter, PhD diploma or expected defense date, transcript of university-level courses, list of publications, and names/contact information of 1-2 referees. Applications must be submitted online via the HR system; email applications will not be considered. Early applications are encouraged as they will be processed upon reception. The University promotes an inclusive culture and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
This is an excellent opportunity for postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in HPC and computational sciences to contribute to impactful research and training activities in a vibrant academic and industrial ecosystem.
