About this position

WZB Berlin Social Science Center is recruiting a Postdoctoral researcher (f/m/x) for the Research Group Information, Incentives, Inequality (III), led by Prof. Dr. Maja Adena. The position is part of the research area Markets and Choice and focuses on media economics, behavioral economics, experimental economics, and applied social science research.

The postdoc will work on a DFG-funded project involving applied field and experimental studies in media economics. Tasks include designing and implementing experimental treatments, coordinating with external partners, conducting field experiments, collecting and analyzing data, studying news reading and information-seeking behavior, preparing publications and reports, and contributing to workshops and international networking meetings.

This opportunity is especially suitable for candidates with a completed doctoral degree or near completion in economics or a related social science discipline. Strong experience in field experiments and/or big data analysis is expected, along with proficiency in R or Stata. The post also asks for familiarity with behavioral economics and media economics, prior research on trust, media economics, or political behavior, published work in relevant areas, excellent English, and at least a good command of German.

The appointment is full-time for three years, starting August/September 2026 and running until July 2029. Compensation follows German Federal Salary Scale EG 14 TVöD Bund, with additional public service benefits. WZB also mentions support for visa and residence permit, a central Berlin workplace, flexible working arrangements, and professional development opportunities.

The application deadline is 2026-06-15. Interviews are planned virtually for June 24, 2026. Applicants should submit materials through the WZB online application tool.
