About this position
The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS in Warsaw, Poland, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Laboratory of Neuroinformatics. This interdisciplinary project, funded by the NCN SHENG 4 programme, focuses on elucidating the principles of primate thalamocortical circuitry through digital brain atlasing and spatial transcriptomics. The research aims to integrate connectome and transcriptome datasets, design and implement functionalities for the marmosetbrain.org portal, and establish a comprehensive, open-access resource of multi-omics data on the marmoset thalamocortical circuit. The project will compare primate-specific features with rodent models, investigate gene co-expression and connectivity patterns, and publish high-impact research articles.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in Neuroimaging, Neuroscience, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, with documented peer-reviewed publications. Required skills include experience in neuro- or bioimaging, AI-based image processing, Python programming, software engineering, and analytical abilities. Familiarity with cloud computing, HPC environments, and neuroscience toolkits (ITKSnap, ITK, VTK, Connectome Workbench, Free Surfer) is expected. Candidates must demonstrate fluency in English and knowledge of nervous system anatomy. Eligibility requires a PhD awarded within 12 years prior to 1 January of the year of employment, or a research fellowship of at least 10 months at an institution other than Nencki Institute and in a country different from that in which the PhD was awarded.
The position offers a fixed-term, full-time contract for 3 years, with a monthly salary of approximately 9700 PLN gross, medical insurance, sports card, and access to a social benefits fund. The start date is preferred as July 1, 2026, but negotiable.
