4-year postdoctoral position in Quantum Foundations at the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT-UNESP) in São Paulo, Brazil.

The newly formed research group led by Alexandre Orthey is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on the project “Quantum Resources and Applications in Extended Wigner's Friend Scenarios”. The research focus is on the foundational aspects of quantum mechanics, with emphasis on quantum resources, quantum information, and quantum foundations.

Funding and benefits: The position is funded by a 5-year FAPESP Young Investigator Grant. The postdoc salary is 12,570 BRL per month tax-free, plus a 10% research overhead. Additional support includes relocation allowance, moving cost allowance, flight tickets for the researcher and dependents, maternity/paternity leave, INSS social security reimbursement, and the possibility to apply for an extra 1-year fully funded BEPE research internship outside Brazil.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD in physics or a related field completed within the last 7 years. A research background and publication record in Quantum Information or Quantum Foundations are required, along with fluency in English and a commitment to full-time research.

Deadline: 12 June 2026 at 14:00 Brasília time. Final results are expected by 3 July 2026, and the anticipated start date is 1 August 2026 (flexible).
