About this position

The ACER Centre of Excellence at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join its multidisciplinary team working on supercapacitor technologies. UM6P is an internationally oriented institution dedicated to high standards of teaching and research, with a strong focus on sustainable economic development for Morocco and Africa. The university offers a dynamic environment for applied research, innovation, and collaboration, supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and a vibrant academic community.

ACER is a newly established research centre designed to tackle process challenges in chemistry and engineering, fostering interdisciplinary research across catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, organic optoelectronics, and advanced polymers and materials. The centre brings together faculty from chemistry, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering, creating a collaborative platform for cutting-edge research.

The successful postdoctoral candidate will conduct original research of international excellence in the synthesis and characterization of nanoarchitectured materials and nanocomposites for supercapacitor applications. Responsibilities include designing experiments (DoE), supporting equipment procurement, assembling and testing supercapacitor devices, preparing publications for leading journals, and presenting findings at conferences and workshops. The researcher will also communicate progress to the team, identify areas for improvement, support funding proposal development, and assist in supervising MSc and PhD students.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Processes, or a related engineering discipline, with a strong background in electrochemical surface science. Essential skills include proficiency in elemental and structural analysis, advanced structural characterization, surface analysis, and electrochemistry techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Experience with electrode preparation, aging tests, risk assessment, and safe laboratory procedures is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, a proven publication record, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team.

To apply, submit a cover letter detailing your research experience and interests, a comprehensive CV, a list of publications, and contact information for three referees (not current UM6P faculty) via the application link. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative research in energy storage and materials science within a supportive and forward-thinking academic environment.
