About this position

This postdoctoral position at ENSICAEN, in collaboration with the Laboratoire Catalyse et Spectrochimie (LCS), offers an exciting opportunity to work on the synthesis of extra-large pore zeolites for catalytic applications. The research focuses on two advanced zeolitic materials: ZEO-1, featuring intersecting 16 x 16, 16 x 12, and 12 x 12-membered rings with a pore diameter of 1.05 nm, and ZMQ-1, a recently discovered zeolite with a 2.3 nm pore. The project involves optimizing synthesis conditions, including temperature, time, and Si/Al ratios, as well as exploring the effects of different media (OH- and F-) on the physicochemical properties of the zeolites. The work will also address the removal of phosphorus residues and the control of crystal size and composition.

The successful candidate will join the LCS laboratory, a joint research unit of CNRS, the University of Caen Normandy, and ENSICAEN. LCS is renowned for its expertise in the rational design of porous zeolitic materials and advanced spectroscopic methods for understanding catalytic and adsorption phenomena. The laboratory is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and is actively involved in major energy and pollution abatement projects, maintaining strong industrial collaborations. The recruited researcher will be integrated into the team specializing in in-situ and operando spectroscopy.

The contract duration is 24 months, starting April 1, 2026. Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry and basic proficiency in French. Required application materials include a personal letter outlining research interests and motivation, a CV, a copy of the PhD diploma, and at least one letter of recommendation. Applications should be sent by email to Dr. Valentin Valtchev and Dr. Marie-Francoise Lecanu, with the job offer reference in the subject line. The deadline for applications is February 22, 2026, at 17:00 (Europe/Paris). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews at the end of February.
