About this position

International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) / World Health Organization is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist in cancer screening, early detection, programme evaluation, health information systems, epidemiological analysis, and implementation research.

The position is based in Lyon, France, within the Early Detection, Prevention and Infections (EPR) Branch. The work focuses on multi-country cancer control projects, including evaluation of screening programmes, programme performance and monitoring frameworks, diagnostic pathways, health service delivery, and the development of data-driven tools and information systems for cancer control.

Key research and technical activities include managing and harmonising complex datasets, conducting quantitative and epidemiological analyses, translating evidence into decision pathways, supporting the assessment of health information systems, and contributing to technical reports and manuscripts. The role is especially relevant for candidates interested in the intersection of public health, statistics, medical science, computer science, and information technology.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field completed within the last 5 years, or an MD with a relevant master's/postgraduate qualification. Applicants should have strong experience with complex datasets, reproducible analysis, scientific writing, and proficiency in English. Experience with R, Stata, Python, dashboards, and health information systems is highly desirable.

Funding: 3,162€ net/month stipend (non-taxable). The post is full-time, with travel costs covered and possible dependency/health insurance allowances where applicable. Duration is 1 year with possibility of renewal.
