About this position

Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC) is hiring a full-time Program Assistant to support a broad portfolio of urban public health work. This is an entry-level, grant-funded role based in the DC metro area, with the team currently working fully remotely and meeting in person several times a year. US residency is required, and relocation is not required.

The position supports project and program activities across areas including substance use, violence prevention, data infrastructure, life expectancy, climate, and related public health initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating meetings, webinars, and workshops; taking and distributing notes; drafting and editing correspondence, reports, memos, and emails; supporting convenings and member meetings; conducting background research; maintaining contacts and rosters; and assisting with program reporting and communications.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience, though applicants with substantial work experience without a degree will also be considered. Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills are important, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Monday.com, or Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.

Funding and benefits are clearly stated: the salary starts at $65,000 and is commensurate with experience. BCHC offers a competitive benefits package including paid holidays, an extended winter break, paid leave, sick leave, wellness days, employer-paid medical/dental/vision coverage, and an employer-matched 401k.

To apply, send a resume and brief cover letter to the listed email address with the specified subject line. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
