The role sits in a drug discovery group focused on next-generation RNA therapeutics and the advancement of nucleic-acid-based modalities for difficult-to-treat diseases. The successful candidate will help drive programs from target nomination through preclinical candidate selection, with exposure to oncology, neurological disease, metabolic disease, cardiac disease, and renal disease programs.

Key responsibilities include evaluating extrahepatic targeting opportunities, working across discovery chemistry and CMC, managing multiple programs, preparing preclinical/clinical/regulatory documents and patent applications, developing SOPs, training associates, coordinating NHP studies, and managing CROs and global resources. The post emphasizes cross-functional communication and leadership in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Required background includes a PhD in biology, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, or a related discipline, plus 3+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience. Strong disease biology expertise in metabolic, cardiac, and renal diseases is requested, and experience with ASO/siRNA and/or gene/base editing is highly desired. The candidate should also have a record of independent research, publications and/or patents, assay development skills for RNA and protein quantification, and strong organizational and communication abilities.
