This Project Assistant/PhD position at Graz University of Technology offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of building materials science, focusing on the development of carbon-negative and reactive supplementary cementitious materials. The research will be conducted within an interdisciplinary team and in close collaboration with major industry partners, providing a stimulating and collaborative environment for innovative experimental laboratory work.

The main responsibilities include the chemical and mineralogical characterization of new materials, formulation and analysis of sustainable binder systems, active laboratory work in cement and analytical laboratories, design and execution of tests, validation and analysis of experimental results, and collaboration on scientific publications and presentations. The position also involves writing a dissertation and presenting research findings at international conferences.

Applicants should have completed a Master’s or Diploma degree in material science, (in)organic chemistry, civil engineering, applied geoscience, or a related field. Excellent English language skills are required, and working knowledge of German is desirable. Candidates should be motivated, interested in scientific research, and able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, with a strong interest in laboratory work.

It acts as an accredited testing, inspection, and certification body for building materials, including aggregates, mortar, concrete, steel, bituminous materials, construction chemicals, and factory production control monitoring.
