About this position
Applications are invited for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) to work on an ICMR-funded research project at the Drug Discovery Unit (DDU), Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics (CBCMT), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. The project, titled 'Small Molecule/Peptide Conjugated Receptor Targeted In Vivo miRNA Delivery System for Restoring Infarcted Myocardium,' focuses on advanced drug design, biomaterials, and molecular theranostics for cardiac repair.
The ideal candidate will have a first-class postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields. A Ph.D. (awarded or thesis submitted) in these or allied non-medical disciplines is desirable. Candidates with hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry, bioconjugation chemistry, chemical biology, cell culture, or small animal handling are strongly preferred. Valid ICMR/DBT/CSIR JRF or GATE scores are advantageous for higher stipend eligibility.
The position is fully funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), offering a salary of Rs. 56,000 per month plus 10% HRA for the first two years, with a 5% increment after two years. For non-JRF/GATE qualified candidates, the stipend will follow institute norms. The appointment is for three years, and the selected candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Loganathan Rangasamy and a team of co-investigators at VIT's CBCMT.
To apply, candidates should submit their resume and supporting documents online at the VIT careers portal and email Dr. Loganathan Rangasamy. The deadline for applications is 20 February 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email for interviews. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers interested in drug design, biomaterials, molecular biology, and translational medical science to contribute to innovative cardiac therapy research at a leading Indian institution.
