About this position
The Ramanujan Fellowship in Electronics Thermal Management is an exceptional opportunity for outstanding Indian or Indian-origin scientists and engineers currently working abroad to return to India and pursue advanced research in the field of electronic cooling. Hosted at the Center of Excellence for Electronic Cooling and CFD Simulation at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, this fellowship is designed for those with a proven track record in research, as demonstrated by high-impact publications and professional recognition.
The Center of Excellence, established with support from Intel Corporation, offers state-of-the-art infrastructure, including advanced computational facilities and multidisciplinary research opportunities. Research areas include nanomaterials for thermal management, microfluidic cooling, advanced heat sinks, thermal modeling and simulation, two-phase cooling systems, and thermal management in power electronics. The center encourages collaboration across science, engineering, and technology disciplines, providing a vibrant environment for innovation in electronic cooling technologies.
The Ramanujan Fellowship is highly selective and open to candidates under 40 years of age who are not currently holding a permanent, tenure track, or contractual position in any Indian institution. Eligible applicants must hold a higher degree such as a PhD in Science/Engineering, Masters in Engineering or Technology, or MD in Medicine, and possess significant professional experience. The fellowship offers a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 1,35,000, an annual research grant of Rs. 7 lakh, and additional overhead support. Fellows are also eligible for further research funding through Indian government S&T agencies. The fellowship is awarded for a non-extendable period of five years.
Applicants interested in contributing to cutting-edge research in electronics thermal management, including areas such as nanomaterials, microfluidic cooling, and computational fluid dynamics, are encouraged to contact Prof. B. K. Gnanavel, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Head of the Center of Excellence for Electronic Cooling and CFD Sim Lab at SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The center provides a collaborative and resource-rich environment, supporting both fundamental and applied research with strong industry and academic connections.
