About this position

Rayat Bahra University, Mohali, is offering research opportunities under a Government of India funded project through the Bahra Research Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (BRIKC). The project, titled “Traditional Coastal Navigation Practices in Cyclone-Prone Regions of India,” aims to blend indigenous knowledge with scientific frameworks to enhance maritime safety for small-scale fishers. Positions available include one Research Assistant and four Field Investigators. The Research Assistant role requires a postgraduate degree in Security Studies, Maritime Security, Disaster Management, International Relations, or allied Social Science disciplines with a minimum of 55% (NET/M.Phil./PhD preferred). Field Investigators should have a postgraduate degree in Social Science disciplines with a minimum of 55%, and candidates from coastal regions such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh are preferred. The project offers hands-on field experience, collaboration with interdisciplinary experts, and the opportunity to contribute to socially impactful research. The Research Assistant position is remunerated at ₹37,000 per month, while Field Investigators receive ₹20,000 per month. The engagement is temporary and co-terminus with the project, with extensions based on quarterly performance evaluations. Funding details
