About this position

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu is inviting applications for a Research Assistant (RA) position in a grant-funded project focused on Invasive Aquatic Species (IAS) mitigation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enroll in a Master’s or PhD programme, with a preference for PhD candidates. The research centers on using integrated biological and physical approaches to address the challenges posed by invasive aquatic species, contributing to applied and impact-driven research in aquatic ecosystem management.

The RA will participate in fieldwork, hatchery-based research, and laboratory experiments, gaining hands-on experience in aquaculture, fisheries, and environmental science. The project is led by Dr. Lokman Nor Hakim Norazmi from the Faculty of Fisheries and Aquaculture Sciences. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Aquaculture Science, Fisheries, or Environmental Science, and possess a minimum CGPA of 3.00. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English (written and spoken) is required, along with the ability to conduct fieldwork and laboratory research.

The position offers a monthly allowance and is set to begin in February 2026. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV via the provided application link or QR code. For further information, enquiries can be directed to Dr. Lokman Nor Hakim Norazmi at [email protected]. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and if no response is received by February 2026, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful.

This opportunity is ideal for those passionate about aquatic ecosystem management, invasive species research, and sustainable aquaculture. The research environment at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu provides access to advanced facilities and a collaborative academic community, supporting impactful research and professional development in the fields of biology, environmental science, and agriculture.
