About this position

Lodz University of Technology, a leading technical university in Poland, invites applications for two Research Assistant Professor (Postdoc) positions in the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering. The roles are part of the OPUS 27 project funded by the National Science Centre, focusing on 'Structural properties of nonlinear control systems: static and dynamic linearization, symmetries, observers.' The project is led by Professor Witold Respondek at the Institute of Automatic Control.

Successful candidates will join a vibrant research team and contribute to cutting-edge research in nonlinear control systems, including topics such as flatness, linearization of mechanical control systems, observers for nonlinear systems, systems with nonholonomic constraints, and systems on state spaces with constraints. Applicants must hold a PhD in engineering and technical sciences (automation, electronics, electrical engineering, space technologies) or in exact and natural sciences (mathematics or physical sciences), obtained either in the year of employment or within seven years before 1 January 2026. Extensions for career breaks are possible. The doctoral degree must be from an institution other than Lodz University of Technology, or the applicant must have completed a 10-month postdoctoral internship at a different institution and country. Candidates should demonstrate documented scientific achievements in recognized journals (Web of Science), strong English communication skills, and expertise in nonlinear control systems, observability, observers, linearization, stabilizability, sliding-mode control, mechanical and descriptor systems, and both continuous-time and discrete-time control systems. Additional valued skills include applying theoretical results to real systems, independence, decision-making, and openness to new concepts.

The position offers full-time employment for 12 months, with the possibility of a 6-month extension, and a competitive salary of approximately PLN 8,850 gross per month. The estimated start date is July 1, 2026. During the period of employment, the researcher will not receive other remuneration from NCN-funded projects, other employers, or pension benefits.

Responsibilities include conducting research related to the project, active participation in the research team, presenting results at seminars and conferences, documenting outcomes in reports and publications, and contributing to organizational work within the Institute and University.
