About this position

The Institut des NanoSciences de Paris (INSP), Sorbonne Université, is recruiting a Research Engineer with a PhD for a high-impact R&D project in quantum technology and nanofabrication. This CNRS Prematuration project aims to transform a scientific breakthrough in nanophotonics and high-frequency electronics into a Deeptech start-up. The successful candidate will lead the fabrication of a revolutionary nanodevice, bridging theoretical validation and industrial prototyping (TRL 4).

The role requires advanced expertise in cleanroom operations, including autonomous mastery of Electron Beam Lithography (EBL), Optical Lithography, and Focused Ion Beam (FIB) techniques. Experience with Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) or near-field microscopy is a plus. The position is highly technical, demanding hands-on skills in nanofabrication, deposition, and etching, as well as strong problem-solving, autonomy, and teamwork abilities. An entrepreneurial spirit is essential, as the project is designed to launch a future Deeptech start-up.

The contract is for 18 months, starting March 2026, and offers access to world-class infrastructure and the possibility of becoming a key member of a new company. The position is ideal for a young PhD looking to pivot towards industrial R&D or entrepreneurship. Applicants must strictly meet all mandatory criteria, including practical cleanroom expertise and relevant technical skills.

To apply, candidates should send a detailed CV (highlighting cleanroom equipment mastered) and a cover letter explaining their interest in the technology and entrepreneurship to [email protected].
