GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences in Germany is advertising a Research Scientist (f_m_x) - GNSS Reflectometry position in the Department of Geodesy, Section 1.1 Space Geodetic Techniques.

This is a research employment opportunity focused on GNSS reflectometry, remote sensing, geodesy, meteorology, geophysics, and data-driven environmental applications. The role involves further developing GNSS reflectometry methods for meteorological use, especially wind speed and direction over oceans, and analysing vegetation, soil moisture, and snow/ice properties using signals from GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou.

The successful candidate will validate GNSS-based reflectometry products against satellite radar and in-situ measurements, improve data quality and error characterisation, and investigate machine learning methods for data analysis. The post also includes collaboration with international and interdisciplinary partner institutions and support for using GNSS reflectometry in atmospheric research, weather forecasting, hydrology, and climate research.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in geodesy, meteorology, physics, geophysics, or a related field, ideally with a focus on GNSS reflectometry.
