About this position

The Galicia Sur Health Research Institute, located at Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo, Spain, is inviting applications for three Sara Borrell Postdoctoral Fellowships funded by the Carlos III Health Institute under the AES-LEIS 2026 call. These prestigious fellowships offer early-career researchers the opportunity to join multidisciplinary teams working in cutting-edge areas such as Rheumatology and Immune-Mediated Diseases, Translational Molecular Oncology, and Rare Diseases and Pediatric Medicine.

Successful candidates will be integrated into research groups comprising basic researchers, clinicians from various specialties, and pharmacists. The research lines are associated with several funded projects focusing on basic-translational research, clinical research, and technological innovation in health. Fellows will benefit from a collaborative environment and access to state-of-the-art facilities at one of Spain’s leading health research institutes.

The fellowship provides a 3-year contract, with a gross annual salary of €30,000 for the first two years and €35,000 for the third year. This funding is designed to support talented postdoctoral researchers as they advance their careers and contribute to impactful research in health sciences.

Eligibility requirements include holding a doctorate in Health Sciences (such as Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Medicine, Biology, or Chemistry) obtained after January 1, 2022. Extensions to this date are available for candidates with maternity/paternity leave, illness, or care responsibilities. Applicants must demonstrate excellent proficiency in both English and Spanish and have 1–4 years of research experience in medical sciences. Preferred qualifications include experience with molecular biology and immunology techniques, animal models, and postdoctoral research abroad. Research achievements such as publications, R&D projects, patents, and conference participation will be considered in the selection process.

To apply, candidates should email their CV and cover letter, referencing 'SARA_BORRELL_2026' in the subject line, to the Principal Investigators: Samuel Garcia, Monica Martinez, and Saida Ortolano. For further details, applicants are encouraged to consult the full job description and institutional websites provided in the links.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated postdoctoral researchers to join a dynamic and innovative research environment in Spain, contribute to high-impact health science projects, and further their academic careers.
