About this position

The National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies – IMT Bucharest is offering a postdoctoral fellowship for a Scientific Researcher in the fields of applied chemistry or electronic engineering. This position is part of the EU-funded project PNRR/2022/C9/MCID/I8-NR. 760101/23.05.2023, supported by the NextGenerationEU programme. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment focused on the fabrication, characterization, and integration of semiconductor materials, particularly those manufactured by electrospinning calcination, into electronic devices and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and sensors.

The postdoctoral position is a part-time role (35 hours per week, 7 hours/day) with a fixed-term contract spanning six months, from January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. The research will be conducted at IMT Bucharest Headquarters, located at 126A Erou Iancu Nicolae Street, Voluntari, Ilfov, Romania. The project emphasizes advanced materials science, applied chemistry, and electronic engineering, with a strong focus on innovative manufacturing processes and device integration.

Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold a PhD in Engineering obtained within the last nine years, a Master’s degree in Engineering, and to be graduates of a science or engineering faculty. Applicants must be Romanian citizens or citizens of another EU member state and reside in Romania. Proficiency in both Romanian and English (spoken and written) is mandatory. Proven experience in the relevant research areas is considered an advantage. Specific expertise sought includes fabrication and characterization of semiconductor materials via electrospinning calcination, integration of these materials into electronic devices, and processing in the manufacturing of MEMS and sensors.

The application process involves submitting a comprehensive file including a letter of intent, signed CV with a list of published works, copies of diplomas and certificates, ID card, marriage certificate (if applicable), and work record or certificates attesting experience. Applications must be submitted by December 16, 2025, 15:00 (Europe/Bucharest) to the Human Resources Department at IMT Bucharest or via email to [email protected]. The selection process consists of an initial evaluation of application files, followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates on December 18, 2025. Final results will be published on the IMT Bucharest website.

This opportunity provides access to cutting-edge research infrastructure and collaboration within a leading Romanian institute. The position is fully funded through the EU Research Framework Programme (NextGenerationEU), offering a competitive environment for postdoctoral development in materials science, applied chemistry, and electronic engineering.
