are looking to recruit PhD students to perform research on welding of thick ferritic steel components. The PhD projects will be mostly computational, but will also include a significant experimental part.

?? Research Field: Solid mechanics, finite element analysis, materials engineering, structural integrity, solid-state phase transformations, weld modelling, residual stress.
?? Impact: Research outputs will contribute to EDF (UK)'s research towards netzero , and will support development and improvement of R6 engineering assessment procedures, specifically for weld residual stress estimates used in defect tolerance assessments.
