Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) is advertising a Teaching & Research Associate position at the Institute for Strategy and Managerial Accounting (IfU), 30 hours/week, with a strong doctoral component. The post is designed for candidates who want to complete a doctoral degree while gaining first experience in research projects and teaching.

The research focus includes organizational control and incentive systems, with related areas such as financial management, accounting & finance, governance, organization, human resource management, strategic management, corporate management, and microeconomics (including incentive structures, labor productivity, and behavioral economics). The institute highlights empirical-quantitative methods, publication training, conference participation, and opportunities to work with experienced researchers and international guest scholars.

Eligibility includes a diploma/master’s degree in Business or Economics that qualifies for doctoral enrollment at WU. Strong English is required; German is helpful but not mandatory at the start. Experience with empirical research is an advantage, and skills in Stata, Python, R, databases, or survey/experiment software are beneficial. The role also includes gradual involvement in teaching, project courses, and administrative support.

Funding details: this is a paid employment position, not a scholarship. The minimum gross salary is €2,832.08 per month (14 times per year), with possible adjustment based on prior experience. The appointment starts on 2026-10-01 and runs for up to 6 years.
