About this position
Call for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Psychological Humanities at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen.
The position sits within the field of psychology informed by the humanities, with emphasis on subjectivity, experience, meaning-making, and forms of psychological life approached through interpretive, phenomenological, philosophical, historical, and cultural perspectives. The department especially welcomes applicants working with qualitative methods and candidates whose research can strengthen collaboration across psychology and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Position types: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (six-year tenure-track contract with research and teaching duties, leading to possible promotion to Associate Professor after positive evaluation) and Associate Professor (permanent appointment with research and teaching duties).
Teaching and duties: The hired candidate(s) will join the group working in Clinical Psychology and Psychological Humanities and contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including seminars, lectures, supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, and teaching in Personality, Clinical and/or Theoretical Psychology, Theory of Science, and Qualitative Methods. Teaching may be in Danish or English.
Eligibility highlights: Applicants must hold a PhD in Psychology and have an active research programme relevant to psychological humanities. The department seeks an emerging record for tenure-track applicants or an established record for associate professor applicants. Associate Professor candidates should also have experience supervising junior researchers and formal training in higher education teaching and learning. Strong collaboration, organizational citizenship, leadership potential, and commitment to student learning and welfare are important.
Funding and terms: This is a salaried academic appointment, not a scholarship. Salary follows Danish academic terms, with an additional 18.7% pension contribution and possible annual salary supplements.
Application: Submit your application via the University of Copenhagen job portal. Applicants may apply for one or both levels, but should clearly indicate the level(s) and priorities. Review the merit criteria and qualification requirements before applying.
Institution: University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
