Two PostDoc Positions in Digital Molecular Medicine Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U) in Austria

Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U) in Linz, Austria, is offering two full-time postdoctoral positions in Digital Molecular Medicine, with a contract duration of up to four years. The university is dedicated to digital transformation through interdisciplinary research and project-based learning, aiming to advance precision medicine and biomedical innovation.

These positions are based in the research group led by Prof. Kristin Reiche, Professor of Digital Molecular Medicine. The group focuses on connecting biomedical data science, medical bioinformatics, research software engineering, and advanced molecular diagnostic tools. Research themes include machine learning for single-cell multi-omics and spatial cell biology, patient-individual in silico models for risk and pathogenesis prediction, molecular biomarker discovery and validation, and software engineering for medical bioinformatics interoperability. The group is particularly interested in advanced medical therapies such as adoptive cellular immunotherapies, developing digital solutions to understand complex mechanisms of action and advance personalized treatment strategies.

Postdoctoral researchers will contribute to research, academic publication, conference participation, interdisciplinary collaboration, academic teaching (up to 2 weekly credit hours), third-party funding applications, and compliance with academic standards and ethical guidelines. The positions offer opportunities to participate in the EU-funded CERTAINTY project, collaborate with clinical partners in immuno-oncology and oncology, and access international research networks in precision medicine and medical bioinformatics. There are also opportunities for research stays at international partner institutions and to present at leading conferences.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biological sciences, mathematics, physics, or related fields. Essential skills include expertise in machine learning and biomedical data science, proficiency in Python and R, experience with ML/DL frameworks, Unix/Linux, and Git, understanding of genetics, molecular biology, and immunology, a publication record in peer-reviewed journals, and fluency in English. Preferred qualifications include experience in single-cell multi-omics or spatial transcriptomics data analysis, awareness of regulatory frameworks for medical bioinformatics and biomarker validation, and knowledge of virtual patient models or digital twin technologies.

The positions offer competitive compensation starting from €67,000 yearly gross salary, flexible working hours, home office options, free parking or Climate Ticket Upper Austria, and an office kitchen with complimentary basic supplies.
