About this position

Two postdoctoral opportunities are open in the lab of Ludwik Gąsiorowski at the University of Warsaw, within an NSC Sonata 20 project titled “Evolutionary perspective on irradiation resistance of stem cells.”

The positions are framed as Assistant Professor roles and are full-time, 24-month contracts starting in November 2026. The work is based at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Biology.

Position 1 (WB-K-6/2026) — Experimental Biology: This role focuses on hands-on laboratory work, including irradiation assays, stem cell visualization, EdU staining, RNA in situ hybridization, and RNA extraction for transcriptome sequencing. Strong fit areas include invertebrate zoology, stem cell biology, evo-devo, and confocal microscopy.

Position 2 (WB-K-7/2026) — Bioinformatics: This role covers the computational side of the project, including comparative and single-cell transcriptomics, phylostratigraphy, phylogenomics, and in silico identification of stem cell markers. Applicants with experience in computational biology and transcriptomic analysis are especially relevant.

Deadline: 31 August 2026.

How to apply: Send your application to [email protected] and [email protected]. Mention the position code you are applying for.

This is a strong opportunity for researchers interested in evolutionary biology, stem cell biology, experimental biology, and bioinformatics in a university research environment.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
