About this position

TU Wien, Austria's largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a University Assistant Post-Doc position at the Institute of Information Systems Engineering, specifically within the Research Unit of Software Engineering. The position is full-time (40 hours/week), limited to 6 years, and is expected to start in September 2026. TU Wien is renowned for its innovative research environment, international visibility, and close collaboration with industry, providing an excellent platform for academic and professional growth.

The successful candidate will engage in independent and goal-oriented research in software engineering, software reliability, software testing, and program analysis. Responsibilities include developing theoretical foundations, methods, algorithms, and research prototypes for building, testing, analyzing, verifying, and debugging reliable software systems. The role also involves empirical evaluation of research ideas in practical tools and scalable analysis infrastructures, participation in interdisciplinary projects (including smart contracts, machine-learning-based systems, and zero-knowledge infrastructure), and contributing to teaching and supervision of students.

Applicants must have completed an excellent doctorate in Computer Science, with in-depth knowledge of software engineering, formal methods, or programming languages. A strong publication record in top conferences (ICSE, FSE, ASE, ISSTA, CAV, TACAS, OOPSLA, PLDI, or related venues) is required, along with extensive experience in software development and research prototypes. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in automatic test generation, program analysis, or reliability of modern software systems, and possess excellent English communication and writing skills. Knowledge of German at level B2 or willingness to learn it is necessary. Experience in teaching, publication activities, organizational and analytical skills, teamwork, and creative problem-solving are essential.

The position offers a minimum gross salary of EUR 5,014.30/month (paid 14 times/year), determined by the Austrian collective agreement for university staff, with potential increases based on relevant experience. TU Wien provides a pleasant, cooperative working atmosphere, flexible hours, attractive social benefits, and a central location with excellent public transport accessibility. The university is committed to diversity and encourages applications from women and people with special needs.

Applications must be submitted by July 2nd, 2026. For content-related questions, contact Prof. Dr. Maria Christakis. For further information about the application process, refer to the university's website.
