North Central College is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminology in the Department of Sociology, Criminology, & Anthropology for a 1-year, full-time, on-campus appointment. This is a teaching-focused role with a 9.5-month contract and a 24-credit annual teaching load (typically six 4-credit courses across two semesters).

The position emphasizes criminology, sociology, and related interdisciplinary teaching. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the criminology curriculum, mentor students through one-on-one and group interactions, supervise senior capstone theses and internships, support inclusive learning spaces, and contribute to community-engaged learning. The department highlights student-centered teaching, mentorship, applied learning, and a collaborative culture.

Eligibility highlights: Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, or a very closely related discipline is required by August 2026.
