Postdoc in Remote Sensing and Land-Use Modelling of Grassland Systems at Aarhus University

Aarhus University is recruiting a Postdoc in Remote Sensing and Land-Use Modelling for the ActSustainably project, based at the Department of Environmental Science in Roskilde, Denmark. The project examines grassland-use dynamics across Eurasia and links satellite-based analysis with broader questions in biodiversity , land governance , and sustainable resource use . The postdoc will work with public and commercial remote-sensing data, including Landsat , Sentinel-1 , Sentinel-2 , and PlanetScope , and will contribute to reconstructing grassland-use change in multifunctional landscapes. This opportunity is especially relevant for researchers with backgrounds in geoinformatics , geography , environmental science , earth observation , machine learning , spatial analysis , and land-use modelling . The role also values programming skills in Python , R , and Google Earth Engine , plus experience with high-resolution imagery, aerial photographs, and academic publishing. The appointment is a 2-year full-time postdoctoral position running from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2028 . Salary is determined by seniority under the Danish collective labour agreement; no specific stipend amount is listed. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and should be able to work independently, collaborate internationally, and communicate fluently in English. The application deadline is 10 April 2026 . To apply, use Aarhus University’s recruitment system via the job advertisement, and upload the required documents: cover letter, CV, degree certificate, publication list, research plan, and teaching portfolio.
