Postdoctoral Researcher in Crystal Chemistry of Critical Metalloids in Mine Wastes

Université Paris-Saclay is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher (M/F) in Crystal Chemistry of Critical Metalloids in Mine Wastes . The position is hosted by LPS Orsay and GEOPS at Université Paris-Saclay, within the ANR REXEL project and in collaboration with multiple research partners. The research focuses on the spatial and temporal evolution of mine waste , with emphasis on the behavior of critical metalloids such as As, Bi, and W . The project combines crystal chemistry , geochemistry , mineralogy , and materials chemistry to study weathering, mineral transformations, phase stability, and the mobility of contaminants in environmental systems. Methods mentioned include X-ray diffraction , pair distribution function (PDF) analysis , infrared spectroscopy , µ-Raman spectroscopy , X-ray fluorescence , absorption spectroscopy , chemical mapping , ICP-MS , and selective extraction experiments. The postdoc will work on mineralogical characterization, phase speciation, and reaction mechanisms in mine waste materials. Eligibility highlights: a PhD in physical chemistry or geosciences is required. Expertise in crystal chemistry and/or geochemistry is expected, and experience in inorganic mineral synthesis and analytical chemistry is an advantage. The candidate should be motivated for experimental work and have strong organizational skills. Funding and terms: the contract duration is 18 months . Salary starts at €3,132.83 gross per month , depending on experience. Supervision and contacts: the postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Erwan Paineau-Lanone in collaboration with Alexandra Courtin , with additional collaboration from Delphine Vantelon and Emmanuel Joussein . How to apply: contact the listed supervisors directly by email and review the linked CNRS/LinkedIn job post for the full offer details.
